"RocketCyber has been a game-changer for me. I know that if there's a threat, I'll immediately get a phone call."
The Challenge
For a resort established over half a century ago, the mission and motivation for Crystal Mountain has stayed true — to help people connect with nature, self and others. The resort and its staff always manage to meet client expectations, regardless of the season, and go the extra mile to ensure everyone thoroughly enjoys their experience. However, there is one pressing problem encroaching on the hospitality industry: Cybercrime.
In recent times, bad actors have begun targeting resorts, like MGM Resorts and Omni Hotels and Resorts, because they maintain massive amounts of client data. Needless to say, this data is extremely valuable to cybercriminals. Such instances shed light on the fact that no industry is safe from cyberattacks, and organizations must take every precaution to prevent such incidents.
Considering its massive scale, Crystal Mountain’s IT team remains cognizant that managing cybersecurity can be challenging but will always be a priority. This means constantly finding ways to combat cyberthreats by testing the effectiveness of its security tools and implementing a more integrated approach to managing and mitigating risks.
To deal with potential executive spoofing attacks, in which cybercriminals impersonate high-level executives to deceive employees into divulging sensitive information, the IT team needed to increase its visibility into its IT security environment and improve its email security. In doing so, it would allow them to better identify and respond to potential threats in real-time.
The challenge is doing all of this in an affordable manner and without suffering too much downtime.
The Solution
Seeking to address these challenges, Shawn Edie, Director of Information Technology at Crystal Mountain, initiated the deployment of Kaseya’s Graphus and RocketCyber.
Graphus: As a cloud-based, AI-powered email security solution, Graphus was instrumental in protecting Crystal Mountain against sophisticated phishing attacks and executive spoofing. Graphus’ ability to leverage advanced AI allowed it to detect and block malicious emails before they reached the inboxes of executives and employees. This significantly reduced the number of spoofing incidents, providing an additional layer of security and peace of mind for the resort’s management. The ease of use and seamless integration of Graphus also meant employees could quickly adapt to the new system, further enhancing the overall security posture.
RocketCyber: This managed detection and response (MDR) service provides real-time threat detection and response, ensuring immediate action against potential security breaches. RocketCyber offered Crystal Mountain unparalleled visibility into its IT environment, allowing it to monitor and identify suspicious activities as they occurred. The proactive monitoring and alerting capabilities of RocketCyber were crucial in mitigating risks and responding to threats swiftly. The integration with other Kaseya tools also ensured a streamlined workflow, making it easier for the IT team to manage and secure the resort’s network.
Shawn Edie also expressed his enthusiasm about the comprehensive protection these tools provided. He also excitedly expressed that Crystal Mountain has subscribed to Kaseya 365 Pro, and he looks forward to the expanded security capabilities of RocketCyber with Datto EDR and Datto AV. This integration promises to further enhance the resort’s security measures by closely aligning endpoint detection and response with RocketCyber’s monitoring capabilities.
The unified approach will enable even faster response times and a more cohesive security strategy, ultimately bolstering the resort’s defenses against evolving cyberthreats.

"With Graphus, we gained basic reporting on incoming and outgoing traffic, including what was getting blocked. The added capability for users to control and submit their own blocks has been a definite plus."
